Quilt Block Books
The majority of quilts that you make or buy are based on patchwork quilt blocks. In Quilt Block Books I will be reviewing books that explain how to make these quilt blocks. The books will be listed by title and author. They will be in alphabetical order by title.
365 Foundation Quilt Blocks Linda Causee
This book teaches you how to make a quilt using foundation piecing. For foundation piecing the patchwork pieces are sewn on a paper or cloth foundation following a specific number sequence. The author organizes her 365 quilt blocks in calendar order, one for each day of the year.
Block Party Marsha McCloskey
This book is divided into three sections. The first section is the block library. This section gives easy to follow directions on how to make 120 rotary cut blocks. The second section helps you design your own quilt. The third section is mix and match patterns.
A Dictionary of Patchwork Patterns Janice Olmsted
The book has 351 patchwork patterns listed alphabetically. The pictures are done in black and white. The difference in fabric is shown by small designs, such as x's and o's. The pattern blocks are drawn on a graph. They tell what each book is divisible by. The book has no directions, therefore I would not consider it a book for beginners. However, if you are looking for a quilt block ideas, this would be a good book to use. I hope these reviews will be helpful as you make your next quilt.
